Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My children. Watching them grow and thrive inspires me to continue to keep working to support my patients and families in their physical and emotional health
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family, hiking the Grand Canyon, mentoring other physicians and parents.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I have always loved working with children. Being a pediatrician allows me to work not only with children but more importantly with the whole family to affect positive change for the entire family. I'm passionate about supporting parents and their kids- about educating parents to help them make the best choices for their children's health. I am passionate about supporting and empowering children and families to make evidence based healthy choices to improve both physical and mental health.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
As a pediatrician and an internist (a primary care doctor for adults), I bring a slightly different perspective in that I truly believe the best thing I can do for my patients and parents is set them up for a life time of health, both physically and emotionally. I use humor and logic, and of course evidence-based medicine, to bring age and developmentally appropriate coaching and interactions to every encounter with my patients. I strive to be a compassionate listener and to guide and treat my patients and families with love, care, and respect to design and reach our mutual goals.
