Q&A with Nada

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

My favorite animated movies and shows are Toy Story, Winnie-the-Pooh, and Sesame Street.

What is your favorite children's book?

I love anything by Eric Carl because my mom used to read me his books when I was little girl. I also love Jon Klassen's books, because they are so simple and great at getting kids to think and wonder.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

My favorite childhood activities were craft activities, such as bracelet making, the Easy-Bake Oven, and sticker books.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My mom is my greatest inspiration because she has always put other above herself - she has taught me to be selfless, kind, and helpful. I will always be grateful that I have someone like her to look up to.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Recently, I have enjoyed baking and discovering new places to experience with my daughter.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

I have always enjoyed working with kids. I was an elementary school teacher for 7 years before returning to school to become a physician assistant, so pediatrics was just a natural fit. I am also fascinated by childhood development and how quickly kids learn and develop from such a young age. I enjoy educating parents and supporting them in how to best care for their children.

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

I think the fact that I was an elementary school teacher prior to becoming a physician assistant sets me apart from others. I value education and prioritize educating both parents and children in regards to their healthcare. I also have a unique understanding of how the education system works - for example the process of obtaining an IEP and/or 504 plan for children who need it.
