Q&A with Dr. Siegel
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
Inside Out- An amazing movie about kids emotions that was relatable as a father, pediatrician, and a Disney fan.
What is your favorite children's book and why?
I Love you the Purplest, by Barbara Joosse- It is a beautiful book that reminds us that we can love each of our children equally while appreciating their uniqueness and differences.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
I loved playing out side with my neighborhood buddies. wiffle ball, football, climbing trees.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
I am continually inspired by the children in my life—both my own and the many patients I’ve cared for over the years. Their positive attitudes, curiosity, and open hearts remind me to carry those same qualities into my own life every day.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I have been playing drums since I was a young kid and continue to play in a band called the Flippin Switches. I also enjoy all of the time I get to spend with my family and traveling, walking, and eating out with my wife of 30 years.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I was initially attracted to pediatrics because I loved all of the people I met working in pediatrics. After all of these years in practice, I am grateful to come to work every day and work with so many incredible people.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I have developed an expertise and love over the years in working with families and children dealing with behavioral problems, ADHD, Autism, and teen/young adult mental health issues.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
I have worked with numerous families over the years with various special needs and see my role as the quarterback, helping families navigate a complex medical system.
