What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
My favorite animated movies and cartoons are too numerous to mention, including Warner Bros. classics, Tom and Jerry, The Pink Panther, and Jonny Quest.
What is your favorite children's book?
"Harold and the Purple Crayon," because it so beautifully demonstrates the imagination and creativity of childhood.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
In early childhood, my favorite toys were my Steve Austin Six Million Dollar Man action figure, Stretch Armstrong, and Lite-Brite, as well as my neighbor’s pachinko machine. In later childhood, I enjoyed the original Atari 2600 and had a bumper pool table. Hopefully, some of the grandparents and great-grandparents will get a laugh remembering these things.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
Kids inspire me, because they don't see the world as adults do. And thank goodness for that.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
My hobbies and interests outside of work are hiking, spending time with my family, traveling, and exploring Arizona.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
It was always there. From the time I was a kid, I was telling people I wanted to be a doctor for children. I never seriously considered anything else.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I speak Spanish, and I believe that is invaluable in communication with families who might not speak English as the primary language.
