Q&A with Dr. Bodea

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

My favorite animated movie is Meet the Robinsons.

What is your favorite children's book?

“Love You Forever” has always stayed with me. Even as a child, I could feel how special the bond between parent and child was, and as I got older, it took on even deeper meaning. It’s a simple story, but it beautifully captures the unconditional love and lifelong connection within families. It’s one of those books that resonates with the core of who I am, and I love sharing it with the families I care for.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

Growing up, my favorite “toy” was actually my basketball. It wasn’t just something to play with; it was a way for me to have fun, challenge myself, and connect with friends. That love of teamwork and staying active has stayed with me, and I enjoy encouraging kids to find their own passions, whether that’s sports or something else that brings them joy.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

Kobe Bryant is one of my greatest inspirations. Not only for his extraordinary talent and work ethic on the basketball court, but also for the way he loved and supported his daughters. His commitment to being a present, encouraging father—especially in championing girls’ and women’s sports—reflects the powerful role of family and mentorship. His example inspires me to support children and families with that same care and dedication every day.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I love staying active. Whether it’s shooting hoops, going for a run, or just enjoying time outdoors. I’m also a big fan of spending quality time with my family and dogs, especially playing games and making memories together. When I can, I like to unwind with a good book or catch up on my favorite shows, but being around loved ones and staying active is where I find the most joy.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

Growing up, a family friend’s younger brother was diagnosed with leukemia, and watching their family navigate that difficult journey had a profound impact on me. I saw firsthand the importance of compassionate care—not only for the child, but for the entire family. That experience inspired me to become a pediatrician so I could provide support, hope, and healing to children and families facing difficult health challenges.

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

I believe what sets me apart is my genuine empathy and dedication to seeing each child as a whole person, not just a patient. I take the time to listen carefully to families’ concerns and stories because I know trust and understanding are the foundation of good care. I strive to create a welcoming, supportive environment where children feel safe and families feel heard and empowered. Building these connections helps me tailor care to each child’s unique needs and make visits as positive and reassuring as possible.

How do you accommodate patients with special needs?

I understand that every child is unique, and children with special needs often require additional care and attention. I work closely with families to understand each child’s individual challenges, strengths, and routines. By creating a calm, patient, and flexible environment, I strive to make each visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I also collaborate with specialists, therapists, and schools to support a coordinated approach to each child’s development and well-being. My goal is to provide compassionate, personalized care that respects each child’s needs and helps them thrive.
