Q&A with Dr. Barlett
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
Hercules because it shows that with hard work, anyone can accomplish great things.
What is your favorite children's book?
Green Eggs and Ham because it highlights how trying new things can lead to discovering new favorites, especially when it comes to food, which I truly enjoy.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite childhood toys were Hot Wheels since I loved imagining racing and crashing them throughout the house.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My parents inspire me. When I was growing up, they always worked very hard to give me the opportunities that allowed me to be where I am today.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
When I'm not at work, I love to exercise, go hiking, play pickleball, try new foods with my wife, and collect vintage comic books.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I wanted to work in pediatrics because children are fun to be around, and they have so much potential to offer to this work. I want to motivate them to become the healthiest and best person they can be. I share a passion with early infant development as well as guiding young adolescents.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
Because of my life experiences, I can relate to children and adolescents on a personal level, understanding the risks and benefits of social media, their diverse interests, and the influences of the modern world. I have recently completed my training and am well-versed in the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines, which allows me to provide informed, high-quality care while building trust and positive rapport with patients and their families.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
Through my training, I have worked closely in both office and hospital settings with children who have a variety of chronic conditions, which has helped me develop the ability to listen carefully and be patient with their needs.
